  1. The movie equilibrium set in the 2072 portrays a superficial, controlled society where the so-called “Father” forced the consumption of Prozium, a drug introduced to suppress people’s emotions. By doing this they were trying to achieve utopia; which is a society with perfect qualities. The idea behind the film was to take away peoples individuality and create a rigid, monotonous environment. However, the society achieved discipline, power and organization would you like to live in a society with the abolishment of emotions, arts and literature?

  2. The dystopian fiction, Equilbrium, projects a world set in 2072 where any form of expression and creativity is illegal and death is sentenced to anyone who tries to disobey the law. Humans are almost robots, who lack any colour in their lives, but an eARTh without art is just 'Eh'.
On one hand the movie applaudes the invention of mankind and technology to create a drug that eradicates all sorts of feelings from humans that could be beneficial as wars would come to an end, however, on the other hand the movie mocks 'development and technology' by portraying that human emotions are powerful enough to destroy an entire democracy by overthrowing a system.
The movie highlights the importance to feel in order to be alive.

  3. Equilibrium is a movie that is set in 2072 in Libria. This science fiction film portrays a city state that has made all kinds of emotions and feelings illegal. The society is controlled by a drug called Prozium; the drug acts like an anesthesia for all emotions and therefore it has to be taken a certain intervals. Any person who is seen expressing their feelings is decreed a death sentence. This creates a society that is highly guarded and the people are able to think only logically. The government feels that emotions are the cause of all violence and wars. They claim that without control emotions create chaos and so this is the best way to stop disorder, creating utopia. This movie questions the audience whether having emotions are actually worth it.

  4. The movie equilibrium set in the year 2072 in libria portrays a world where emotion is illegal and people aren't allowed to feel. The society is made to consume a drug called Prozium to keep their emotions in check and those people who do not consume Prozium are deemed as sense offenders and are executed by the secret police of the society. The aim of the leader of the society was to have total control and order over the people. The movie highlights the importance and the strength of human emotion as human emotion was able to destroy an entire system of society and it highlights the importance for us to feel as without feelings all humans are the same and there will be nothing unique about each one of us.

Equilibrium is a dystopian fiction that portrays a post world war 3 setting in 2072. In the novel all forms of creativity like art, music and dance is illegal. anyone who disobeys this law is sentenced to death.

The people in the society is made to consume a drug called Prozium which keeps their emotions suppressed. The emotions need to be suppressed as the totalitarian government believes that it is human emotion that leads to suffering and destruction. People who do not consume Prozium are deemed as sense offenders and are ''processed' by the city's police.

The movie depicts to the viewers the importance of emotions and artistic expression in ones life.
