Art, Music, Culture, Historical Legacy - aesthetic questions about beauty and complex questions about music and politics?





AOK - Art, Music, Human Sciences (Culture), WOK - Sense Pereption, Emotion, Imagination, - can you think of any others and what Knowlege Questions come to mind regarding music in general (is it a language, is a form of communiction?) - to what extent do our own cultural perspectives (personal knowledge and cultural environment influence how we determine beauty in art?)



Different perspectives -

Can we agree on a universal definition of beauty in  art? What did Keats mean when he wrote "Beauty is truth, truth beauty'?

Politics and history -

Is our perception of music influnced by its cultural associations - for example if Wagner was Hitler's favourite composer, can we separate that fact from our experience of Wagner and how important is the work of Jewish conductor Daniel Barenboim in choosing to promote Wagner's music despite Hitler's love of Wagner?
