Being deeply fond of history I found this documentary to be an extremely informative video. It is unique because it highlights the 'power of art' that even dictators like Adolf Hitler saw these art pieces to be a threat. He feared that these art works which were considered modern would change and influence peoples mindsets and this in itself speaks a thousand words. However the humorous aspect of this video is brought out when the painting with the cows on a field and the woman painted with bright colours were considered to be degenerate pieces of art. PS- I really enjoyed when Marty said that it was a badge of honour to be considered a bad man by Hitler.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the video, I thought of the knowledge question: to what extent can the interpretation of a work of art influence one’s emotions? And also the knowledge question: To what extent does our environment and conditions affect our perspective of a piece of art? It is evident from the video that the Nazis considered certain pieces of art as degenerate, which did not even seem to be against them in my perspective. It is possible that the Nazis, under the heat of dictatorship interpreted the paintings as degenerate and as being against them.
